Phoenix Wright (Ace Attorney) thought it was just another TOTALLY NORMAL case in his line of work. Of course, defending Sagara Sanosuke (Rurouni Kenshin) against charges of lazing around and dining and dashing (and possibly inciting the wrath of a police officer/stealing his sword) is a losing cause. SOMEHOW Phoenix ended up dragged along as Sano tried to escape the law. Conrad Weller (Kyou Kara Maou!) is after them because Saitou hired him as a man half after his own heart, though now he kind of regrets it because Conrad is too damn nice.
